Commitment to Service

With over 500 hours of service during high school and an additional 300 hours from earlier years, I am committed to serving my community in every possible capacity. As an active member in both school and community organizations, I strive to make a lasting impact with each project I take on. Recognized with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, I am driven by a strong sense of responsibility and a deep passion for community improvement. My dedication to service is ongoing, and I plan to carry this commitment forward into whatever field I pursue, using my skills and experiences to uplift and empower others.

For me, community service is about far more than clocking hours; it’s about creating genuine support for others and helping my peers find success alongside me. I believe that true service means uplifting those around me, sharing knowledge, and empowering others to reach their goals.

Every project I undertake is a chance to inspire, build confidence, and foster unity—ensuring that the journey towards success is not one I take alone but one that carries others forward as well. My commitment to service is rooted in this vision of collective progress, where each act of kindness strengthens the community and contributes to shared achievement.

Promoting Advocacy and Perspective through Student Voice Summit

During my term on the Superintendent Calvin Watts’s Student Advisory Council, I helped plan and host a Student Voice Summit, bringing together students and families across the county. This summit aimed to foster meaningful conversations around advocacy and representation, creating a platform for students to share their unique perspectives. My work on this event was driven by a commitment to community service and a desire to empower others, leaving a lasting impact on both the attendees and our county’s approach to student advocacy.

Building Trust and Transparency through Student-Principal Advisory Council

Inspired by my experience on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, I co-created a similar initiative at my school to bridge communication between students and administration. This council, which remains active, serves as a platform for open dialogue, fostering transparency and strengthening trust within our school community. Through this effort, I aim to enhance school pride and provide students with a voice, furthering my commitment to serving my school and empowering my peers.

In a passionate effort to enhance educational equity and inclusivity, I represented the Gwinnett Black Student Union (BSU) on local news to advocate for the introduction of the Advanced Placement (AP) African American Studies course in Gwinnett schools.

During the segment, I highlighted the importance of this course in providing students with a comprehensive understanding of African American history, culture, and contributions

Running for a Cause: A Colorful Fight Against Childhood Cancer

As part of our ongoing commitment to support those affected by childhood cancer, our student council organized a vibrant color run fundraiser that not only promotes physical fitness but also raises awareness and funds for this critical cause. Over the past couple of years, this event has successfully raised over $7,000, directly benefiting the CURE Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Participants of all ages joined us in a colorful celebration, where they ran through clouds of vibrant powder, embodying the spirit of joy and hope. Each step taken in the run was dedicated to honoring the brave individuals in our community who have fought valiantly against cancer, ensuring their stories are never forgotten.

Books for Bright Futures: A Community Book Drive for Kindergarten

I participated in a community book drive designed to give individuals who cannot afford new books the opportunity to receive one. This initiative united students, families, and local businesses to donate new books for the community.

This book drive not only enriched their literacy experience but also encouraged a sense of community involvement and support for our youngest learners, emphasizing the importance of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning.

Other Service Projects:

Throughout the years, I have actively participated in seasonal drives within my community, focusing on both toy and food donations. These initiatives aim to support families in need during the holidays and other special occasions.

Community members come together to collect toys for children and non-perishable food items to ensure everyone has access to essential resources. The generosity of local families, businesses, and organizations is heartwarming, creating a spirit of unity and compassion. Each drive not only provides much-needed assistance but also fosters a sense of community, reminding us all of the importance of giving back and supporting one another, especially during challenging times.
